Water supply & water quality, fire prevention and air quality are important issues, especially now. I believe we are at a critical tipping point and we need to act quickly with a holistic approach. The Municipality of North Cowichan has an award winning Climate Energy and Action Plan that highlights a wide variety of recommendations for mitigating and adapting to our changing climate.
As a member of the Environment Advisory Committee I have been able to familiarize myself with this plan and the process options for implementation. I want to do more to have an impact to move things forward more quickly. Our homes, health, businesses and overall quality of life depend on it.
Having a water treatment plan without any water, is completely useless. We need to look at our natural assets and protect them while we can. It will only cost us more in the end if we do not act now.
